Darius is Alfred Miles' right-hand man and roommate and the tritagonist of Atlanta.
Bio[]
Darius is Alfred "Paper Boi" Miles roommate and (presumably) best friend. The most eccentric of the recurring characters, Darius often shares his deeply philosophical and existential views on the world with his company, with minimal regard to their reception of his insights. That said, Darius is also shown to be a character that others can rely on for some level of emotional support, often providing strong advice to Earnest when he's faced with a particularly difficult situation.
Darius shows a level of paranoia, often talking of his mistrust of the government. He has been known to cite various famous conspiracy theories with weird elements added in, such as when he claims that AIDS was created to keep Wilt Chamberlain from beating Steve McQueen's sex record. Earn said that he thought that AIDS was created to kill homosexuals, to which Darius replied, "Oh, yeah, that too."
Darius's last name is never explicitly stated in the show, but in S2E11, he goes by "Mr. X," though this is most likely in reference to Malcolm X, of whom Darius is known to respect. He likely did this to retain a level of anonymity.
Darius has a rather strange sense of style, but he makes it work. He often hums while he walks and likes to jump up on tables and skip to his rhythm. This and his strange commentaries tends to amuse the other characters.
Darius is a weapons enthusiast and shrewd earner, displaying extensive knowledge on various firearms and blades. He was able to accurately appraise a katana as valuable and sold it to an Asian gang in exchange for a breeding dog, which he then took to a breeder he knew for a substantial markup from the initial price of the katana. This said, he is a questionable marksman, as shown in S1E5.
Darius's shooting is sporadic and jerky. When confronted by a group of angry white guys, Darius raises the excellent question: "Why would I shoot a human target? That's weird right?"
Trivia[]
Darius shows some level of subtle prescience, able to predict events right before they happen. He shows this in S1E1 where he predicts the appearance of a dog, to a lesser extend in the episode with Teddy Perkins. In S3E2, he predicts that he walks into a room with Tupac because he "Felt the thug energy." The person in question was directly never confirmed to be Tupac, but it is heavily implied.
Darius claims to have been raised in Nigeria, to which the other characters think to be the cause of his eccentricities.
In S1E3, Darius calls his gun "Daddy." Daddy appears to be a Glock, possibly chambered in .45 caliber. In S1E5 however, he uses a pistol that resembles a Colt 1911 chambered in .45.
Darius claims that he can't procreate due to his balls being crushed when he was a kid in Nigeria. Poor Darius.
